The situation of COVID-19 epidemic has continued to stabilise. Non-tertiary education schools have resumed classes in September consecutively. However, for the sake of our own health and that of our family members, we should insist on adopting epidemic prevention measures and comply with the Macao SAR Government’s request for it. We should implement regular epidemic prevention measures, do our best to persist, wash hands frequently and wear a mask, keep a distance and avoid crowd gathering as well as remember that perseverance leads to success.
There still have been cases of COVID-19 infection and death around the world. This may lead to individual or collective emotional reactions such as anxiety, nervousness, fear, anger and irritability. These emotional reactions are normal reactions of ordinary people when facing unusual events. It is necessary for students and their parents to understand the possible psychological reactions, encourage students to express their emotions in a timely manner, assist students to seek professional counselling to cope with personal emotions and sorrow, as well as avoid excessive repression which leads to physical and psychological discomfort or extension of recovery time.
In order to care about students’ mental health after class resumption, the DSEDJ continues to provide the counselling network in collaboration with the funded student counselling institutions, aiming at offering emotional support and psychological counselling service to students and parents who need the service. In addition, this webpage has been set up to provide the related counselling information.
