Central Registration for Children Entering Kindergarten for the First Time - 2026/2027

Timeline (Year 2026)

1. Admission information(From 1 January onwards)

  • Parents visit the “Central Registration for Children Entering Kindergarten for the First Time” webpage or go to “A Guide to School Admission” on the DSEDJ website at www.dsedj.gov.mo to consult the admission information of schools in Macao.
  • The admission regulations of different schools can be consulted through the links provided on the DSEDJ website.


2. Central Registration(From 6 to 16 January)

Central Registration allows parents to choose and register online for the schools of their choice. Parents can process online registration through their children's “Macao One Account” or select “General Log in” on the webpage of “Central Registration for Children Entering Kindergarten for the First Time” on the DSEDJ website(www.dsedj.gov.mo). If they choose “General Log in”, they will receive an SMS verification code after entering the information according to the instructions. Registration process is as follows:


Children who are Macao residents

Parents can register through “Macao One Account” / on the DSEDJ website.

1 Input the “basic information” according to that on the identity documents and upload a child's recent photo which meets the requirements.

2 Can choose at most 6 Macao local schools and 1 “school for Macao children” in Hengqin.

3 Input the “supplementary information” as requested by the selected school(s). Then, click the button “Confirm and Submit”.

4 A confirmation SMS will be sent to the registered mobile phone within 24 hours after submission of the information.


If assistance is needed, bring the following documents to the DSEDJ counters to process registration:
− 1 recent photo of the child which meets the requirements
− ID originals and photocopies of the child and of his/her father/ mother/ guardian


Children who are non-Macao residents



Parents must bring the following documents to the DSEDJ counters to process registration:
− 1 recent photo of the child which meets the requirements
− ID originals and photocopies of the child and of his/her father/ mother/ guardian
− The “Slip of Authorisation to Stay” issued by a competent entity of the Macao SAR or supporting document(s) of the child's application for a stay or residence permit from a competent entity

iconGuidance notes for registration:

  • Before registration, please prepare a recent, bareheaded, full face ID digital photo of the child. Photograph specifications
  • Schools set no limit to the number of registrants and interviews. There is also no priority for early registration in the Central Registration System. Therefore, there is no need to hurry to process registration.
  • Please ensure that all registration information is complete and correct. Incorrect registration information may lead to cancellation of interviews by schools.
  • If Central Registration is completed through “General Log in”, parents should keep the verification code received via SMS so that they can log in to the DSEDJ website later to consult, amend and confirm the registration information.
  • If Central Registration is completed through “Macao One Account”, parents should log in to “Macao One Account” to check, amend and confirm the registration information.
  • Parents should pay attention to the selected schools' characteristics, admission regulations and methods of publishing information. Before selecting schools, they should pay attention to the interview date of each school to avoid a scheduling conflict.
  • Apart from selecting 6 schools in Macao, Macao residents can also select “school for Macao children” in Hengqin through Central Registration.
  • If parents select foreign language school(s) for their children, parents should input information using the language(s) as required by the school(s).
  • For twins / multiple birth children, parents are recommended to register them with the same valid Macao mobile number.
  • The name, gender, date of birth and identity card number of the child will be verified by the Identification Services Bureau.
  • Parents must agree that the personal information provided will be transferred to the selected school(s) for the purpose of carrying out school admission.
  • If the registration information needs updating, it should be updated by 16 January 2026.


3. Schools announce the interview date and time (From 10 to 12 February)

  • Parents should first check the interview time and interview means from the admission information on the DSEDJ website, and cooperate with the schools and accept the arranged interview time and date.
  • In exceptional circumstances, parents can change the interview schedule with the school's consent. The school can reschedule the interview in accordance with the actual situation.

4. School admission interviews (From 1 to 25 March)

  • Parents should pay attention to schools' information, and bring all the required documents/materials to schools to attend interview.
  • After completion of Central Registration, parents can log in to “Macao One Account” / the DSEDJ website to obtain the “Interview QR Code”. At the time of interview, parents should show the screenshot of such QR code on their mobile to the school staff. The QR code screenshot can be reused.

5. Schools release the admission list and parents confirm online which school to enrol their child in (From 8 to 10 April)

Parents who have completed Central Registration are required to log in to “Macao One Account” / the DSEDJ website to:
Check the admission status of their child;
Confirm which school to enrol their child in;
Obtain the “First-time Enrolment QR code” and take a screenshot of it.

  • Parents of admitted students are obliged to visit the DSEDJ website to confirm one school to enrol their child in within the designated period; otherwise, the school place will not be reserved.
  • Parents can change their online confirmation option by 10 April 2026.

6. Schools announce the students admitted from the waiting list (From 11 April onwards)

  • Parents should take note of the ways their registered schools will release the admission list.
  • Upon receipt of the admission notification, parents of students admitted from the waiting list shall confirm in which school to enrol their child within the designated period informed by the school(s).

7. Parents go to school in person to process enrolment / school transfer procedures (From 13 April onwards)

  • Parents of admitted students are obliged to complete enrolment at school by 15 April.
  • Within the designated period informed by schools, parents of accepted students (students on the admission list and students admitted from the waiting list) are required to bring the screenshot of their children's “First-time Enrolment QR code” to the schools to process enrolment / school transfer.
  • If a parent wants to transfer his/her child to another school, the parent can, within the designated period informed by the school, generate a new “First-time Enrolment QR Code” of the child and take a screenshot of it, then go to the school to complete the school transfer process. After successful enrolment, the parent will receive a confirmation SMS if he/she has provided a valid Macao mobile phone number. Meanwhile, the school in which the child was originally enrolled will receive a message about the cancellation of the child's enrolment.
  • “School place reservation fee” for all new students should not be submitted before 13 April.

First-time Enrolment QR code



Parents who have completed Central Registration can log in through “Macao One Account” / on the DSEDJ website to obtain the “First-time Enrolment QR Code” from 8 to 30 April 2026. When carrying out enrolment at school, parents can present the screenshot of the QR code on their mobile to the school staff. Each“First-time Enrolment QR code”can be used once only. If necessary, parents can obtain the QR code again using the above-mentioned methods.


8. Enrolment in other schools (From 16 April onwards)

  • If a child has not yet been admitted to any school by 16 April, or the parents want to enrol their child in another school, parents can visit the DSEDJ website to check the availability of K1 places at different schools, and go to the schools that still accept enrolment for enquiries and enrolment.
  • In order to ensure school-age children's right to education, parents in need can apply for the service “consultation and arrangement of school places for students” provided by the DSEDJ. Please enquire by phone or go to the DSEDJ headquarters to apply for the service during office hours.

Other notes

  • If a parent needs to authorise another person to complete Central Registration at the DSEDJ counters, he/she is obliged to fill in the letter of authorisation in advance (a sample letter of authorisation can be collected at the DSEDJ counter or downloaded from the DSEDJ website). The authorised person must present the original identity document and the completed letter of authorisation, and bring copies of the identity documents of the authorised person, the child and the child's parent/guardian to the counter in person to process Central Registration.
  • In accordance with the provision of Clause 3 of Article 7 of Law No. 9/2006 “Fundamental Law of Non-tertiary Education System”, “Unless requested by the parent(s), students at infant education level should not be required to repeat a grade”.
  • In view of the characteristics of physical and mental development of children and the features of their age, parents should not arrange for grade repetition for their children unless for very special reasons, such as health problems.
  • If parents want to apply for grade repetition for their child at infant education level, they can make an application to the school from 1 March onwards. The school will evaluate the student's need for grade repetition in accordance with the actual situation and based on the application letter and evidential documents.
  • Admission application to different grades at primary and secondary education levels and for non-first time kindergarten students will start from 1 March onwards. Parents can go to the schools and apply for admission for their children.
  • Children under the age of 6 who apply for admission to special education schools must undertake the educational placement assessment arranged by the Children Comprehensive Assessment Centre.
